    LR-Cal LTC 250-F description

    The LR-Cal LTC 250-F portable temperature calibration bath serves as a temperature source and reference instrument in one, for testing and calibrating all types of temperature measurement devices. Calibration bath inserts (simplifies silicone oil change) and various metal block inserts are also available.

Information about suitable calibration media

Calibration liquids for LR-Cal temperature calibration baths

Basically, temperature calibration baths can be filled with three types of calibration media:

  • Media that are in a liquid state at ambient temperature, e.g. oils, alcohol and water/alcohol mixtures.
      
  • Two-phase media which become liquid at the intended temperature application range of the calibrator. These are usually mixtures of potassium and sodium salts which are powdery at ambient temperature and become liquid at temperatures between 150°C and 500°C. They are used exclusively in calibration baths specially suited for this purpose.
      
  • Other solid substances which under certain circumstances or temperatures reach a state similar to a liquid medium, e.g. sand or aluminum powder with extremely fine grain/granularity.

DRUCK & TEMPERATUR Leitenberger GmbH does not use two-phase media for the calibration bath inserts, although their temperature range is very high.
This is because such media can be very dangerous for the user and even cause explosions.

DRUCK & TEMPERATUR Leitenberger GmbH also does not manufacture calibration bath inserts suitable for use with solid substances, e.g. aluminum powder.
This is because it is not possible to prevent 100% that corresponding powder particles get into the environment during operation of the calibrator. These media are not environmentally compatible.

The calibration media sold by DRUCK & TEMPERATUR Leitenberger GmbH for calibration bath inserts are therefore exclusively silicone oils.

Suitable calibration media for the LR-Cal LTC 150-F(-PLUS) + LTC 250-F micro baths:

*) The "possible range of use" describes the theoretical usability of the medium. However, the viscosity may be unfavorable for practical use as a calibration medium, especially in the lower part of the application range.
**) Above the specified temperatures, the smoke ignites (CAUTION: open fire!).

The calibration media are subject to wear (degeneration), which is greater the more often and longer they have been exposed to high temperatures. Therefore, avoid unnecessarily high temperatures over an unnecessarily long period of time.

    LR-Cal LPP 140-P description

    This pneumatic pressure comparison test pump is used to generate test pressure for checking, adjusting and calibrating all types of mechanical and electronic pressure measuring devices by means of comparative measurements. The LR-Cal LPP 140-P pressure comparison test pump requires a solid base (e.g. a workbench).

    If the pressure measuring device to be tested and a suffciently accurate reference pressure measuring device are connected to the pressure comparison test pump, the same pressure acts on both measuring devices when the pump is actuated.  By comparing the two measured values at any pressure value, the accuracy or adjustment of the unit under test can be checked.

    The LR-Cal LPP 140-P pressure comparison test pump is equipped with a fne adjustment valve for precise approach of the measuring points. The test pump uses ambient air as the test medium. It is characterized by its simple and effective handling and works independently, so no external pressure source is required.

    Note:
    The performance of the pressure comparison test pump LR-Cal LPP 140-P depends on the total volume of the calibration circuit. The lower the volume, the higher the performance. The larger the volume, the more sensitively the test pressure can be adjusted.

What is temperature calibration with a metal block temperature calibrator?

The test item (temperature measuring instruments of all types, e.g. dial thermometers, glass thermometers, resistance thermometers, temperature switches, thermostats, etc.) and the reference temperature measuring instrument (installed in the calibrator or external reference) are both subjected to test temperatures. The measured values of the reference are compared with the values of the test item. In this way, a statement can be made not only about the function of the test item, but also about the measurement accuracy or the measured value deviation of the test item.

Please note that the specifications regarding radial and axial temperature uniformity given in the respective technical data refer to specific immersion depths and do not necessarily apply to all immersion depths in every case. The temperature range specifications apply at an ambient temperature of +20°C.

The LR-Cal metal block temperature calibrators have an internal (built-in) reference. If its accuracy is not sufficient, an external reference (without or with its own display) can be used.

The LTC-MP-3I option is available for LR-Cal LTC metal block temperature calibrators (except for versions LTC-DB-0550-60 and LR-Cal LTC-DB-1200-35), with three measurement inputs (2 x for RTD/TC and 1 x for analog signal 4... 20 mA/0...10 V).

The LR-Cal LTC-DB-0550-60 metal block temperature calibrator is available in two versions: standard version and “-2I” version with 2 measuring inputs (for RTD/TC).

This option is not available for the LR-Cal metal block temperature calibrators of the compact PYROS series.

Furthermore, the LR-Cal Aq2Sp2 PC software is available as an option for the LR-Cal metal block temperature calibrators. This allows the calibrator to be completely controlled from the PC via its serial interface, manual or automatic calibration of one or more DUTs, load and life tests, thermostat tests, as well as the generation of calibration certificates.

What is temperature calibration with a metal block temperature calibrator?

The test item (temperature measuring instruments of all types, e.g. dial thermometers, glass thermometers, resistance thermometers, temperature switches, thermostats, etc.) and the reference temperature measuring instrument (installed in the calibrator or external reference) are both subjected to test temperatures. The measured values of the reference are compared with the values of the test item. In this way, a statement can be made not only about the function of the test item, but also about the measurement accuracy or the measured value deviation of the test item.

Please note that the specifications regarding radial and axial temperature uniformity given in the respective technical data refer to specific immersion depths and do not necessarily apply to all immersion depths in every case. The temperature range specifications apply at an ambient temperature of +20°C.

The LR-Cal metal block temperature calibrators have an internal (built-in) reference. If its accuracy is not sufficient, an external reference (without or with its own display) can be used.

The LTC-MP-3I option is available for LR-Cal LTC metal block temperature calibrators (except for versions LTC-DB-0550-60 and LR-Cal LTC-DB-1200-35), with three measurement inputs (2 x for RTD/TC and 1 x for analog signal 4... 20 mA/0...10 V).

The LR-Cal LTC-DB-0550-60 metal block temperature calibrator is available in two versions: standard version and “-2I” version with 2 measuring inputs (for RTD/TC).

This option is not available for the LR-Cal metal block temperature calibrators of the compact PYROS series.

Furthermore, the LR-Cal Aq2Sp2 PC software is available as an option for the LR-Cal metal block temperature calibrators. This allows the calibrator to be completely controlled from the PC via its serial interface, manual or automatic calibration of one or more DUTs, load and life tests, thermostat tests, as well as the generation of calibration certificates.
