The LR-Cal LPP 40 handheld pressure test pump (also known as a calibration test pump, calibration pump, or hand pump) is a pneumatic test pressure source for positive pressure up to 40 bar (580 psi) and vacuum (negative pressure) down to -0.95 bar (-28 inHg). It is used for testing, adjusting, and calibrating electronic and mechanical pressure measuring devices (pressure transducers, transmitters, pressure gauges, pressure switches) through comparative measurement. The operating medium is ambient air. Tests can be performed on-site at the measurement location or in a stationary setup in a laboratory or workshop.

Procedure for a Comparative Measurement

The reference pressure gauge is mounted directly on top of the pump (hand-tight, without tools and without additional seals). LR-Cal pressure calibrators (and digital pressure gauges) or analog reference pressure gauges (see Accessories: LPP-MANO) are suitable as references.
The test unit is attached to the open end of the standard pressure hose (length 0.5 m, 1/4" BSP female free rotating thread), hand-tight and without tools. Adapter sets (BSP, NPT, metric) are available as accessories for other thread types. This creates a closed-loop calibration circuit with a low volume.
When the pump is activated, the same pressure acts on both the reference gauge and the test specimen. The hand lever generates the pre-pressure, while the volume variator generates the high pressure. By switching modes, the LR-Cal LPP 40 also generates a vacuum.
The user sets the desired test pressure using the fine-adjustment valve (volume variator). It alters the volume of the calibration circuit only slightly, allowing for precise pressure adjustment. The Volumentool accessory (LPP-VOLUMEN-TOOL) further facilitates high-pressure generation and fine adjustment.

The LR-Cal LPP 40 is compact (approx. 220 x 105 x 63 mm) and lightweight (approx. 510 g, excluding hose; see data sheet). The included operating instructions describe the exact procedure for use.
